Daughter of a second-generation Spanish immigrant, Simone was born in London and raised at the foothills of the Bavarian Alps. After graduating from the University of Nottingham with a BA in German Studies she moved to Berlin, where she worked as a translator and copywriter for various start-ups, before relocating to Essex.
She is chronically ill with ME/CFS, and blogs about disability and mental health on The Mighty.
She enjoys writing poetry, children’s fiction that tackles global issues and has recently completed the manuscript of her first novel: a memoir set in post-Wende Berlin. When her nose is not buried in a book, she can be found experimenting with vegan bakes in the kitchen, building bug hotels in the garden, or deep in silent meditation.
